Kingspan k18 Insulated plasterboard

Compare with Kingspan Insulationphoto.JPG

We were exhibiting at the Sandown show over the weekend, a lot of people visiting Cosyboard stand showed a good knowledge of Insulation Products, most wondered about the price difference between Kingspan and Celotex,  Quinn-therm, and Ballytherm,  Kingspan Kooltherm  K18 is a different make up to the rest increasing the efficiency by about 10% but it can be up to 60% more expensive, insulation is a simple product most just want it to do what it says on the tin, keep the heat in during the winter and out in the  Summer, the next most important thing is the price, the cheaper you get the product the faster the return on investment it is unsure if you will ever make your money back on paying 40/60% more for Kingspan, the new Building regulations for the conservation of Fuel and Power for England and Wales which came into force on the 1st of October 2010, states from then all submissions for building control approval need to comply with new regs.

Thermal transmission is known as U Value or the heat transfer or heat loss in watts through 1 m2 of a building fabric it is expressed in watts per meter squared per degree Kelvin W/m2K

Very well insulated Houses or buildings have a low thermal transmittance where poorly insulated buildings have a high thermal transmittance rate some of the big losses are in poor quality doors and window and especially roof windows Velux are the brand leader in roof lights offer a high quality Glass with 22mm spacer between glass to reduce heat transmission

All Dwelling as set down in the (ADL2A) need to comply to U values laid out

Roofs  W/m2.K 0.20

Walls W/m2.K  0.30

Floor W/m2.K 0.25

Party walls W/m2.K 0.20

Windows, Roof Windows, Rooflights and Doors W/m2.K 2.00

These are min U Values it would be advisable to exceed them where possible
